Its just too hard to compare cross-console games IMO. Here is my list of best first published games by console (I've been pure PC since the N64 so I stop my list there). I am sticking with the multiplayer theme of course.

Only reason I dont like goldeneye, is because when you play multiplayer, the spawn points for when you die go in a specific order, so if you play one level enough, you can start running to your opponent's next spawn point before they can get a decent weapon...

one of my cousins could do this in the temple, and I couldnt stand playing him...

I think it's more fun with more than two people playing.

Details details, my brother and I always called it Russian attack because we knew who the real enemies in the game were. We still play it at my parents beach cottage where they keep an NES out for renters.

i was at the point where my core trio mag/storm/sent // mag/psy/cam was too ridiculous in arcades to bother with anymore. my fingers had the infinites memorized so well i had to physically turn my game down to keep people popping their quarters in.

Super Smash Bro. is the best. me and my friends would spend entire days playing that game. I rock with Samus but i could never beat my friend with Captian Falcon or fox. He got a gamecube and got Melee. it's ok but the original is still beter imo.
