Heh.. I still have one of those sitting in a box in my cupboard.

I took it out a while ago to give Mario Tennis a go and IIRC it didn't work anymore even though it'd just been sitting there for years.

Oh well, it was a stupid piece of crap anyway.

Each one was revolutionary/great in it's own right. I'd have to say the NES, b/c it put console gaming on the map.

SNES 4ever, then Playstation

Dreamcast barely even makes the top 5. See :

1) SNES
2) PS
3) Xbox
4) PlayStation 2
5) DreamCast

Mine still works, I was playing Warioland and Red Alarms Yesterday for a little while. I picked it up back in 98 with like 10 games for 40 bucks.

In all the consoles, I own NES and DC. They are the best examples of fun in console gaming.

NES = Mario Brothers, Contra

DC = Soul Caliber, NFL2K2

Agreed, the SNES would be the system I would have if I had to choose. Gameboy for longevity, and NES for old skool-ness.

The Atari 2600 is what got it all started. It was HUGE back in the day, there was no other show in town that could compete with it. Intellivision had superior graphics and was another fun system.

Hmmm... I think Atari actually actually get's that particular honor.

IMHO, Turbo Grafx 16 was [/b]WAY ahead of it's time[/b], and probably deserves more recognition than anybody here has given it.

When NES was 8bit, TG16 was 16bit w/ 256 colors, 6 channel sound, 5 player action, and the first console game with a CD drive! Years ahead of SegaCD. And to top it off, no bulky cartridges, the games were on Hu-Cards. I could carry a score of games in my back pocket; try doing that with NES or SNES games!

Oh, forgot to mention. Two TG16 Expresses could be hooked together with a cable to play head-to-head back in the late 80s. Now, how many years did it take for Nintendo to come out with a head-to-head color handheld????

Now, for the really astounding part: They made a handeld version called the Turbo Grafx Express. It had a 2.6" active-matrix color LCD, stearo sound, and even a TV tuner attachment to watch TV on the color screen, and drum roll please, it played the same freaking HU-Cards that the console system did! Whoh! You mean if I have Dungeon Explorer for my console TG16, I can play the same card in my handheld TG16 Express??? YES my good man, yes!!!!

Probably should take a look at this site to get a better idea about what was available BEFORE SNES saw the light of day....

XBOX. When modded, it turns into a great little machine to have around. Also, the online gaming is top notch.
