Best coop shooter

My friends and I are looking for good coop (as in, the 3 of us vs. AI) shooters that we can play on the LAN in our house. The one catch is that my friend is playing on a ~4 year old laptop, so preference goes to OLDER games.

So far we've come up with:

1. Battlefield 1942 (the 3 of us trying to hold Iwo Jima vs 60 AI is fun)
2. Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear (a bit too old)
3. Rainbow Six: Raven Shield
4. SWAT 3 (also a bit old)

All recommendations are welcome

My brother and I played some MoH:AA - there's a bot pak available, but they are dumb as nails. You'll need to tweak the maps for better balance.

So 1942 works well for you? I've been looking for something similar (Co-op FPS, instant action).

what nJett said, there is also a mod for Half-Life called SvenCoop, google should get it for you. That can be fun Or Swat / Ghost Recon games, not sure quite how old of a PC you've got

Ghost Recon (the original, not GRAW!) was/is one of the best cooperative experiences EVER. You should be able to find the Gold Edition in a bargain bin somewhere for $15 or $20. GhostRecon.net and Ghostaholic.com are great sites for mods / maps / missions. If you like hard missions with stealth involved check out Alpha Squad's tournament missions ... the team I played with in the 2004 tourney took 2nd place, and it was a hell of a good time! Doesn't take much of a PC to run it either.

Edit: Just checked PriceGrabber and it's $13 shipped to me. Definitely worth it.

Deus Ex and System Shock 2 Coop Mods.
SvenCoop for Half-Life
Last Man Standing and Classic Doom for Doom3 (this combination allows for coop play through classic doom redone episode 1 as well as the last man standing which is a coop mode where you survive waves of AI attacks).
And yes, Serious Sam... all of it.

Agreed!! Awesome coop experience, and pretty decent looking for it's time. I remember playing the abandoned castle level and getting pinned down in the old house as the enemy stormed us. We were all freaking out because all we heard were footsteps running and gun fire... and it was also pitch black.

Left 4 Dead is looking like it will be the ultimate coop game. Its not out yet though, it should be out April 20, 2007.

Its you and 3 of your friends versus waves of zombies and zombie bosses.

My wife and I have been playing through SS2 together. Its pretty fun, you pick skills to compliment eachother and you can repair eachothers weapons and stuff, share ammo, etc. SS is pretty RPGish though, so if he's looking for pure blast 'em up action it might not fit the bill.

I'm looking forward to that as well. In the mean time, if you have UT2004 check out Killing Floor for zombie blasting action. Its not perfect, but its pretty damn fun and can get pretty tense.

The Rogue Spear series is great but the enemy AI is lacking. Sometimes the guys stand in rooms guarding a back wall. Serious Sam is cheap and brightly colored but it gets boring doing a spawn, kill baddies, get killed, respawn (repeat 1000x).

As far as new games go Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter is pretty cool if you like a more realistic coop shooter.

How is UT 2004 coop?

How would you compare the two? I've been playing some GR:AW with a friend but not Swat 4. Is Swat 4 worth picking up?
