I'm getting a new system and I'm thinking of going cordless. I'll be getting the mx700 mouse. But I don't hear many people talk about their keyboard.

I was wondering what the best cordless keyboard was. I know logitech has a black one. Is it descent? Is the response fast enough?

And yes I do like to play some FPS games.

The newer Logitech's are very nice, but I don't think they sell them standalone. If you get one you'll basically have the mouse sitting around useless. I've used 2 Logitech cordless keyboards and both have been excellent. They don't need drivers, but your board needs to be able to support legacy USB mouse and keyboard for them to function properly in the BIOS. Or you can use the standard PS/2 adapter as well. My first KB was the Cordless Optical Freedom and now I'm using the freebie Navigator SE (it feels slightly better). It only uses 2 AA's, the older Optical Freedom uses 4 AA. Battery life is very good though, I've only had to replace them every 4-5 months.

Response time is excellent as well; you won't be able to tell you're using a cordless keyboard. Excellent combo with an MX700, but again, the mouse in the combo will sit around useless unless you have an extra mouse base sitting around. I'm actually using the base from an old balled cordless mouse that's about 4 years old. Was pretty surprised it worked.

I don't know if I'll be of any help to you but I have a Logitech cordless keyboard.
It performs fine. I don't have no problems with it. From my experience with useing
it I would recommend Logitech. I don't have the black keyboard but I've been
wanting to get it seeing that my case is black.

Anybody know how to get the Logitech cordless elite keyboard without the bundled mouse. That mouse is older.

All I want is the keyboard and the mx700 mouse.

It would make a lot more sense for logitech to bundle those 2 IMHO.

This is the bundle I'm talking about:link

As far as I can see, the Elite is listed on Logitech's website and can be bought there for USD 39.95. Both the design and response are excellent, I've had one for a couple of years.

the one listed on the website for $40 is not cordless. Hopefully, Logitech will start bundling the MX700 with the Elite cordless keyboard or atleast sell the keyboard without the mouse, makes no sense to bundle a inferior mouse with a high-end keyboard.

I have a Logitech Navigator Duo set and I love it. I had heard the keyboard was good and it is and I also heard the mouse was crap...I was
surprised that I actually like the mouse in this set better than my Intellimouse Explorer for basic desktop work and for games it does as good.
One reason could be that I have my base within 1 foot of the mouse.

Anyways you cannot go wrong with a cordless Logitech keyboard.

I have MS Bluetooth Wireless Desktop and it is awesome. As I have mentione b4, the batteries in the mouse don't last long at all, but the keyboard lasts a LOT longer.

What I did was get the Logitech Cordless Desktop iTouch (with balled mouse), and a Cordless MouseMan Optical, both at the same time. I took the base unit from the Optical mouse, and sold it, along with the balled mouse, to my dad, for his computer, and used the 2-in-1 base unit from the KB/mouse kit with the keyboard and optical mouse, and they work fine.

So, if you can find someone to sell the spare base station and other mouse to

I have had this kb/mouse combo for a year and a half, and I love it I play loads of FPS games, and I don't think I became any worse with them, in fact, I think I got better with using the more comfortable kb/mouse! And there is no lag that I can tell, if there is any lag, you're probably talking in the realms of a couple of ms at most, which will hardly be noticable at all.

Edit: Oh crap... the MX700 has the charger built into the base unit, doesn't it... In which case, you probably won't be able to sell the other mouse and spare base unit.

You can get the Elite keyboard by itself, but it won't be cordless.

The only thing that made me move away towards the Bluetooth set was that it only worked in Windows. No linux support? Sheesh...keyboards and mouses should work on any OS -- plain and simple (in my opion).
