Best Crash Physics in a PC Game

I recently just discovered this game, and now it has a public demo and alpha. The demo is free, but you have to pay for the alpha. Since it is new, I'd figure I would share a little gameplay for those who haven't seen it. The physics are pretty incredible.

What are your thoughts on this game/engine?


That video is actually not a best representation of the kind of stuff these guys are up to.

Imagine physics like that in a Twisted Metal or Vigilante 8 style game, salivating to think about it, would buy in a heartbeat.

So I downloaded their demo.

I'm a little disappointed there wasn't much natural terrain, but it was pretty cool nonetheless.

Having spent a lot of time behind the wheel of a pickup just like that, I was surprised at how well they achieved that particular handling feel (crappy shocks on that thing, too).

I think with a some more polish, this physics model could make for a very interesting off-road style of racing game. For once, and FINALLY, you could have some more realistic damage going on.

It would seem their intent is to just develop a physics engine as a plugin to sit on top of other game engines, not really develop much of a real game.

I bought the alpha and have been messing around with it today. There are around 6 different tracks in the alpha. Three are very large natural environments. You also get five cars with multiple variations (lifted truck, stripped 2wd truck, sport truck, are examples of the truck variations.)

They are adding AI, more environments, more cars, yada yada as the alpha progresses. I'm wondering what direction they will go as a game. I wonder if it will be arcade like burnout, sim, or something crazy like Crash Time.

Its well worth the $15. I haven't had so much fun messing around in a game in a long time.

Yeah well the game is an alpha. I''m slowly starting to realize there is more to the game then just crashing.
