I will be paying most of my bills with a credit card and so would like to earn rewards/points for travel i.e. round trip flights to let's say Miami.

What do you guys suggest? I just signed up for a Jetblue Amex which seems to be great. Am looking for one another similar card, if not better.

I don't understand what you plan to do. Are you saying you plan to use a new credit card to pay your monthly bills?

i used american express blue cash to pay my bills like cell phone, cable, etc.. you get 1% cashback at the end of the year. really good, but also consider one with mileage and stuff too.

Not all bills take credit cards. Mortgage and rent can't be done right unless you find a card with a sweet cash advance offer.

My g/f had a decent CA deal and paid off her car loan with it, dropping the insurance cost quite a bit.

I pay all my bills with my credit card. Chase Freedom or AMEX Costco. You're basically searching for the best cash back card really. AMEX Blue Cash is overrated though because you don't get 1% until you pass like $5000 or something? The first $5k is 0.5%, and unless you spend a lot, your net is still well under 1%.

my Chase Freedom (Visa) gives 3% back on things like cable and utility bills. I don't know if they still do this.
However, the elec/gas company here doesn't allow you to pay w/a CC.
There's a Citi Dividend card (Mastercard) that gives 2% back on this stuff too.

Yeah, for bills, I use my Chase Freedom card. But for other purposes, I use many other cards.

That's what we use, but somehow we ended up with a Blue Rewards and not a Blue Cash.

Don't know if we filled out the wrong form online or if they switched it on us, but now we've got a metric assload of points that we accumulated before we even noticed we didn't have the card we wanted.

for a casual non-frequent traveler, i would recommend a high yield cash-back card. if you insist on getting travel credit, perhaps the southwest airline card.

A good cashback card will almost always beat a frequent flyer miles card. Get a cash rebate then...

- Cash gives you a choice of any airline. FF miles don't.
- Cash lets you get a ticket on any flight where there are seats available, whenever you want to make your plans. FF miles don't. Only a few seats on any flight are available for use with FF miles. If the FF seats are gone when you want to travel, what good are they?
- Your chosen airline may not fly to where you want to go. Even if they go there today, they might not in the future.
- Cash lets you buy a ticket using whatever rebate you've earned. With miles, if you don't have enough for the whole ticket, you can't use any.
- No expiration dates on cash.
- Airlines are in serious financial trouble. You might end up building up miles on an airline that goes bankrupt before you can use them.
