best CSI

so which one is the "best" one accrding to you guys?

i refuse to get into all 3, any suggestions as to which one is good?

The Vegas one is the original. It is a very good show IMO. It is intelligently written and the cast is quite good.

I have tried watching the Miami show once and it was dreadful. David Caruso is an awful actor and the supporting cast was even worse. In particular, there was an attractive female cast member who might be the worst professional actor I have ever seen - she wouldn't have made it through the auditions for Plan 9 From Outer Space.

I didn't know there was a third variant, though I guess it doesn't surprise me. I imagine it is also a pale imitation of the original.

My gf recently got me watching CSI and CSI:Miami (the third show is going to be CSI: New York) and they are two vastly different shows. It's obvious that CSI has more care and money put into it -- the cast is *much* better, the characters are well rounded, the guest stars are generally top notch, the plots make sense (for the most part). CSI: Miami is typically entertaining just to see David Caruso do his Shatner impression -- the plots go on such f'd up tangents that it's laughable and every episode ends with David Caruso either giving a slow-mo wave or putting his sunglasses on.

The taste of CSI:NY was inconclusive -- Gary Sinese is a decent actor at least, so maybe it'll be okay. I just have the feeling that it's trying to do what the various Law and Order shows already do better.

That blonde chick is *annoying*. I dunno if that's a Southern accent or what, but it's like nails on chalkboard for me. The gal that's dating the IA guy (I think he's IA, not sure, the one who tried to pwn Caruso last night) is irritating as well.

Sinese was pretty good in The Stand. I think he's a little hammy, but all around a good actor. The gal from Providence, I dunno, her hair bugs me but that's about all I have to go on at this point. I don't think they'll beat the original's cast tho -- Grissom, etc. are just solid.

LAs vegas = plain old CSI... and that's by far the best of the 2 they have airing atm..

NY hasn't really happened yet. But as has been said, Gary Sinese is a solid actor so it has an ok chance.

The original is clearly the better series. The scripts are better. The characters are better and make sense. (There's a solid number of nerds, and semi nerds involved...which makes sense because they are science geeks.) And its just more polished and refined. The actors for the most part look like they might be people who do this. Sarah with her gappy teeth looks like she could have her geek side, grissom goes without saying, greg I totally buy as a lab nerd, the rest are at least ok.

Miami is just trash...I love the original but I just can't get into Miami. David Caruso clearly thinks he's still on NYPD blue and has just forced his science geek character into a generic hard ass cop role which seems to be the only thing he's capable of doing. The rest of the characters are ho-hum at best, mostly existing as pretty-boy and pretty-girl cast who just spout drivel and disappear to allow caruso to lean on some generic guy after jumping out of his hummer. I mean I want to like it, but it just throws the concept out the window and becomes another generic cop drama full of over/bad acting with a little bit of science stuff thrown in.

When you think about it though CBS execs are really quite smart. What happens when an innovative, successful idea comes out on TV? The other networks copy it, flooding the airwaves with the same stuff until the public hates the idea. After its used up, they move on. CBS knew this would happen after CSI was so successful, so they just beat the other networks to the punch. They flooded the market with cheap copycats of their own idea, leaving no room for the other networks to get a niche. Will they burn up the idea quickly? Probably. But at least THEY will reap in all of the advertising dough instead of the other networks just riding their coat tails.

In that case, that's the one I like. The one with Grissom. I can't stand CSI: Miami.

And I have reservations about CSI: New York. We'll see.

I have to say that I was totally confused by that at first -- I'd heard that they were starting CSI: New York and already knew about CSI: Miami as well as having a show based in Vegas, so I thought that CSI took place in LA (given that *every* cop show is in NYC or LA). Vegas makes for an entertaining setting -- I can't think of many places better (although I saw someone mention New Orleans as a potential place and I would have to echo that -- any place that has a big tourist trade + dark underbelly would work well).

Csi: vegas is the best one. I don't like Miami because of Caruso. He reminds me too much of the cop in L&amp;O:CI. He's a bit know it all, he's a jewelry expert, bomb expert, expert detective etc...

I love both but I prefer Las Vegas. The casting is just so awesome and all the actors matured in acting out the characters.

One thing I do have to say though, the HD filming on both is amazing. Flipping back and forth between HD and the regular cable just blows my mind. Two thumbs up for that.

I like the guy in L&amp;O: CI, he's got an element of humour.
Caruso is similar, but without the humour or acting ability so he sucks, so does the rest of the show.
Seen maybe 2 good episodes of it ever.
