You dummy.

So do you expect them to get through life without money? I am sure there are massive medical expenses involved and who knows if any of that money could be funneled right back into charities. Furthermore I highly doubt they were able to charge any fee for appearances for the get go; the potential to make money would have been realized after they have done this many times.

I can't believe some idiots like this.

:tear; that was beautiful... man, talk about one awesome dad and a courageous son

Not to play devil's advocate here but I doubt the kid is even capable of comprehending what courage is, much less being capable of courage.

Kudos to the dad though, thats amazing to do that for his son, just because their might be a sliver of comprehension in his son's mind as to what he's doing.

I watched the Oprah about this guy and his son with my mom over the summer.

The kid is fully aware and communicative. He speaks by moving his head to control a cursor with which he highlights keys on an on-screen keyboard. It takes him literally 15 minutes to form a sentence but he is coherent and knows what's going on. The reason they do this is because the son was watching tv and saw a road race and typed to his dad "I want to do that." After their first road race, he typed "When we're racing I don't feel like I'm handicapped."

A recent ESPN article.
Update on the guy per Daaavo's linky.

The normal life saw Rick, who cannot talk or walk,

graduating from a public high school and going on to Boston College where he
earned a degree in special education. After teaching for one year, Rick turned to his interest in computers, and helped Boston University develop the "Eagle Eyes" computer system that uses eye and head movements to help him communicate.

Great story. I can appreciate better now that I'm about to become a father.

A little off topic here, but why were so many random words Capitalized in the link provided by the OP? That was kind of annoying.

I creied like a little girl. I have a 5 year old that is Autistic and mentally retarded. I feel like a failure as a dad seing as how I get tired pushing her in a stroller at the State Fair, I can't imagine doing a tri-athalon with her.

*Queue's up music from Rocky and starts working out.

truly emotionally and mentally inspiring.

If that guy has the will power and determination to do soo much for his son, all my current worries seem to be so small and stupid when compared. I can definately overcome them if i set my mind to it.
