okay, then change to DD-MM-YYYY

I use either that format (11MAR2008), or will use 03/11/2008. The latter is what I used basically my whole life, and I've recently gotten accustomed to the former and use it basically everywhere unless the format is specifically required. It leaves no questions if its for anyone that knows English, as the month is specifically stated. Date formats that set up like 03/11/2008 can be easily misconstrued by people who are used to different formats, and is likely to lead to some confusion.

who cares what the rest of the world goes by? the US could wipe out the rest of the world. The rest of the world also uses metrics and other weird shit.

the rest of the world needs to get with the US way of doing things. dd/mm has messed with me on more that one occasion and I don't like it!

Unambiguous and sortable. What's the advantage of DD/MM/YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY? Neither is unambiguous OR easily sortable.

Another vote for ISO8601 (YYYY-MM-DD) here. That's what all the browsers will be supporting eventually for rich date inputs.
