best deal for $1000 laptop

Looking for a laptop for general use its for my sister she does not play games or anything. Her budget is 1k so if you know of any deals or anything that would help. I dont have any experience with laptops myself but im guessing it cant be that much different than desktops. Also she is picky about the looks of it so the sleeker looking it is the better.

I guess if she's about the looks, a Macbook. Else, shoot for a dell w/ a good warranty. At least w/ these two options you wont be tech support.

yeah shes in love with the looks on the macbooks but now things have changed and shes gonna get a desktop. Typical girl thing she didnt tell me was that she is getting a laptop from workin in next two weeks so i was like WTF U NEED TWO LAPTOPS FOR???lol Oh well least ill be able to sell off this 22 inch westy to her as a monitor

Is she in college? Because if she is you might want to build her a matx setup for easier transport back and forth. For $1000 you can build a pretty powerful system too.
