The SR-80 model has much better bass than the 60's, making the 80's well worth the extra 20 bucks. You can get them here, for $81 shipped. You might have to stop by the place with the overweight billfold though.

maudib, I checked out the site, but only saw a price of $89.99 (not including shipping) on the SR80's. Perhaps, there was a misunderstanding?

Does anybody know if they are still in production? I can't find any Sony website that lists them.

Hehe, haven't heard of them being described as accurate. If so, the Grados would also be considered accurate I don't own them, but i have heard them. It's been a while since i have though, but i still preferred the open nature of the Grados to the closed 7506. And i thought the one-sided cord on the Sony cans sucked.

From what I've read at Headwize, the SR-80s are the best bang for your buck in the Grado lineup. However, if you're not tied down to Grado, you might want to check out the deal on the Sennheiser 580s that Newegg was running.

SparkyClarky, thanks for the headsup on the 580's. I read that they are second only to the 600's. Wow. $150 is a great deal, but I don't have the power to drive them
Thus, it'll have to be the SR60's or 80's.

Thanks for the heads up though.

I was wondering if I could get some opinions on how the SR60's or 80's sound when plugged into the back of a computer (mp3's, games, etc). Thanks.

I know a couple of guys doing audio recording/mixing for a living and they use the 7506s to catch things in the recording (like artifacts) that they might have missed listening through studio monitors. From what I've read and been told (I don't own them, I've only listened through them at Mars Music) they reproduce the sound at better detail than most headphones and they are pretty comfortable and lightweight too (at least compared to my Sennheiser and AKGs)

Not sure about shipping to Canada, I know that music stores like musiciansfriend.com and zzounds.com sell them (maybe US only)

are the V6s enjoyable for music? sure they are, especially for stuff like hiphop, trance, dance beats etc. (not so much for jazz/classical)
but are they accurate? not at all!

like n8magic, i have a pair of 60s, then upgraded to the 125s - i love both, but definitely prefer the 125s. as far as the differences between the 80s and 60s, i'd say its personal preference, i never wanted for anything when using my 60s, that's for damn sure, i was more than happy. the only time i ever noticed that i wanted more was after i listened to a friends pair of 125s, so you will not regret if you decide to go with the 60s, thats for sure.
as far as driving them from your pc, i can't comment on the 80s, but the 60s are fine on the pc output - the 125s are marginal at best, i just don't bother, if i'm listening from the pc, then i use the 60s. i would assume that the 80s fall somewhere between there, just fine if you're listening at lower levels, but if you want to jam out, they might be a lil too hard for your pc to drive, notice i said might there.
anyways, the point of my ramblings are that you will enjoy either set of cans you buy, you definitely won't regret either of them one bit.

Muadib, thanks.....yeah, I missed it the first time reading your post That's an unbeatable price--thanks a whole lot. I think I'll have to make a purchase on those (SR-80). If anyone thinks the SR60 is actually "better sounding" or more accurate than the SR80's, please stop me now. Otherwise, I'll be a proud SR80 owner soon--I can't wait!

Good choice. And don't worry about not having enough power to drive them.

I use my SR-80's with my Nomad 3 and actually have to turn the volume down from its default setting (scale is 1-25, defaults at 15, I listen at 12).

I also occasionaly listen to the computer with it and have little trouble there. That is at work and using the integrated sound on the oldish Dell I have.

Enjoy the good cans!

Oh, and keep in mind, folks......I'm stepping up from a $20 Labtec set. If I've been able to tolerate them for the past 9 years, thinking that they've been "fine" or just ok, then.... I'm gonna be blown away by these Grados

One other thing....I just emailed and cancelled my order because I forgot to use ebates. I'll have to check if the cancellation went through or not.
