Best Detonator Drivers for Windows XP

Can anybody tell me which ver of detonator drivers is the best for windows xp?

The best ones I've found were the 2312s.

I'll have to go with the 27.20s simply for the fact they seem to run every game I have well and they don't cause the infinite loop bug on my system as was the case with everything from 23.xx-27.10. The 27.42s seemed excellent if not for the fact the nVidia Refresh Rate Fix program no longer works on them, gaming at 60hz is simply not acceptable.

My best results have been with the 23.12's... I've also tried 27.20, 27.30, 27.42... all worked nicely, but weren't as fast in the benchmarks as the 23.12's.

My vote is for the 23.12 drivers, so far all the games I`ve tried are rock stable and no problems found with WinXP .

27.20 is the fastest and most stable for me!

The 23.12 are certified, stable and fast , the 27.42 offer better image quality but lower performance :frown:.

New interesting fact: Uninstall all previous detonator drivers and remove all of your installation directories from your HDD (if any there), then install a standard graphics adapter as recommended, reboot and let the XP hardware manager update your graphics driver via internet automatically. What happens? Your XP will contact the M$-site and download and install the 23.12 w/o any sick comments!

So the reason *why* the 23.12s disappeared from ASUS ftp 2 weeks ago is cleared up now. I've really been astonished about that.

Are there any posted benchmarks of the 27.42's? So far, I only know of the guru3d set of benchmarks, and those go up to 22.80 only...

All games were benched with highest quality video settings, trilinear filering, etc. No FSAA. No sound.

So does this mean that NView is all that changed? Kind of striking that the speed is SO exact. They didn't tweak that at all

I'm sick of picking apart sites for each driver

My vote goes to 23.12 WHQL driver

I think the 27.10 or 27.42 are still quit beta compare to 23.12 which was purely
based on an official driver and with added stability and definitely more compatible
with Microsoft.

I use the 21's. I want to hold off on the 27's for now. 23's flat out wouldn't run right.

When I go to the Nvidia site I see drivers for XP 64bit and XP/2000 what is the difference. Which work best. The drivers I see listed under XP/2000 are version 23.11 and the ones listed uner XP 64bit are 22.20.

Is there a better place to get an Nvidia detonator driver?

You get the 23.12's by running windows update.

Can someone please tell me the history of the detanators......like which ones are the newest and which are the oldest......im using 23.12 right now....but i was wondering if there the newest...since the 27.xx would seem newer cause of the higher #.....im just a little confused if someone could straighten it up for me i would greatly appreciate it

It's easy, it's just like you said: higher number is newer. The oldest would be 1.0 or something like that, wouldn't work with the newer cards, it was made for, hmm, the TNT or something like that. When I got my GeForce sdr the newest were Asus version of 3.64, I used those with that card until recently. The newest version I've seen is 27.43, which is beta. They only release of few of the versions officially, 23.11 is the newest official version.
