Hi,

Would be really handy to have some tips on whether the two fans on my 210 should be blowing or sucking.

I've an A7N8X (so no motherboard fan), an XP2400+ cooled with an Alpha and a low speed Y-tech fan and a Radeon 9700 cooled with the Zalman heatpipe thingy. The power supply is a quietpc 400W. The hard disc is a Barracuda V and gets really hot (and that's sitting on my workbench, never mind when it's in the PC).

I'm not overclocking and going for as quiet as possible. I've replaced both the case fans with more low speed Y-Tech units - but which way should they go?

thanks!

you can try top as exhaust and back as intake.

hot air tend to move up, so have top fan as exhaust to get the hot air out.

Back as intake so cpu fan will breath fresh colder air.

It's just my guessing.

I've actually been seeing recently that it's almost more important to get hot air out of the case than it is to get cool air in. Don't take that to mean you don't have to worry about intakes, just that it's best to be sure that there won't be any areas where pockets of hot air will form.

in theory the exhaust on top should prevent that, but I don't have much confidence in the grille covering it - it's clearly been designed for prettiness not airflow.

If I have two exhausts, and no intakes, won't that create serious impedance? where will the air come in from?

after experimenting with all the different permutations, the best result is having the rear fan as an exhaust, and the "exhaust" on top of the case as an intake. I've a homemade cardboard duct pushing the fresh air onto the graphics card cooler, and another homemade duct going from the CPU fan to the rear exhaust.

According to MBM, CPU core temperature is 47 idling and 51 full load.
