Best Firewall?

i was reading the stickied thread about security and i noticed that many people prefer to use the old Kerio (v. 2) instead of the new one (v.4) is there any reason why?
and since sygate has been bought out what would be the best free firewall now?

The one you have in your NAT router already (if you do have a NAT router). It is a great firewall if you don't open ports and don't use DMZ. The only problem is it doesn't prevent outbound traffic (but if you have a good sense of security you might not need that). If you want a software solution, I recommend ZoneAlarm.

ZA? I assume you have been following the spyware threads on za forums that it installs, calling out to mama and who knows who else. (ZA support says its a bug LOL) I use kerio latest version which is the best, if you cannot configure its interface and need ver 2 then you have no business using a computer. Sunbelt has bought out kerio and they made absolutely no changes in the firewall to screw it up like ZA did when they got bought out. Sunbelt kerio is running a special of full version for 14.95 and next years subscription for 9.95. It still functions as the regular free edition if you do not buy it in 30 days ofcourse.

I'm using Sygate. Plenty of options, and pretty minimalistic.

Sygate is pretty nice. I should go back to it. Right now I'm using the mystery firewall in trend micro's product.
