what's the best firewall out there? (for high security, i don't care about ease of use). I've been using Norton internet security for a while but it started to make me mad and i'd have to disable it to run some web pages.
I don't know but here is a bump for you. I need to set up a firewall here in about a week. I'll probably use Linux but dont know much about which firewall setup to go with.
I use Black Ice and it's pretty easy to use. Before I had Norton's but it messed up my ports and wouldnt let me play CS or download things, it would suck.
ive read reviews saying zone alarm is better than norton internet security and black ice. either way, you cant beat zone alarm's price of free! i use zone alarm and i havent had any problems with it.
ZoneAlarm is the best I've found, not to mention it's FREE BlackICE and Norton aren't bad either, I've personally used Norton and found it to be an encumberance at times, as for BlackICE, I've never used it but I've heard it gets 'annoying' <-- no idea what that means but it's what I heard. If you really need security get a router.
alright all, thanks for the help, i just realized one problem for trojans, i was playin around with one on my friend connection, and even though he clicked block, it allowed me on until i disconnected. that was about a year ago, maybe they have fixed it by now.
Hum... best firewall... I would have to say Sidewinder or Pix Firewall is about the best you can get. IMO it's a toss up between the two, but if I had to pick just one i'd go with the Pix Firewall.
I purchased Norton and used it for about 5 months and what a pain in the butt. I now use ZoneAlarm. The main problem I had with Norton was that I couldn't get online games to download servers properly and some web pages wouldn't load unless I turned it completely off. Norton is not worth the frustration.
