Best Game Thus Far?

What do you think is the best game that has come out, to this day.

My vote goes to Unreal 2K4

Best game ever? I don't think you realize the degree of your question. I don't even know if I can answer that. If you're talking about how blown away I was the first time I played a game and there after? I would have to say the first time I played Doom. I couldnt beleive my eyes! I went over to my best friends house for dinner and his bro was home from college and he brought his comp. Well, he was out and Mike (BF) was like, "dude, you gotta check out this game my brother got!". I sat down to play it and ran around in utter amazement! 3 hours later I finally took a breath and got up....I had completely missed dinner and didnt care. It honestly was the single most amazing gaming experience I've ever had. It was my first expose to a FPS as well, so I'm sure that had something to do with it.

civilizaton 2 has sucked most of life life away, along with counterstrike and masters of orion 2, LHX attack chopper, Wolf3D, Doom2, Quake1, and Unreal Tournament (glide lovin on voodoo5 5500 back in the day)

Totally agree on both counts. That's a very broad question and DOOM totally blew me away when I saw it. Before DOOM we had what, Wolf3D? I started out a RPG fan but as soon as I saw DOOM I was hooked on FPS'ers. It caused me to upgrade my girlfriends computer and in turn totally got me into computers in general. Anyway, to date my favorite games would be...

FPS solo: Unreal for old school and Far Cry for new
FPS multi: Tribes for team based play but UT2004 is amazing all around
RTS: Total Annihilation - no other RTS has what it has

FarCry was disappointing. I kept pressing the USE key when Val was taking a bath in the river but nothing happened.
