BEST GAMING MOTHERBOARD (please advise)

I am planning to build my own system. i am just looking to build me a powerful gaming solution that can be very well rounded for other applications also.

I am reading a lot of forums and reviews and I finally had my eyes set on the MSI K8N SLI motherboard as a solution. It was getting good feedback and good ratings.

Then I ran into some people telling me that the new fata1ity system by Abit as being a good gaming system.

SO I am a little confused here. I mean I though that SLI is the bomb with games and stuff but I guess I just need some more information.



Please I am looking for answers that can help me. Lets not start posting flame or hate messages.

The Fatality is a nice board, I'm getting one myself. But honestly it depends on your budget. The price of a Fatality board isn't really justified right now, still waiting for the price drop. It won't outperform any of the other boards by a significant margin. Personally I just like the way it looks and the extra cooling options are a nice feature. If you plan on replacing your graphics card in another year a single card solution would be best. You can pay anywhere from $100-200 for a NF4 Ultra. If overclocking is important consider the Abit or DFI.

If your going to go SLI, go all the way. Two 6800GTs. Otherwise your wasting your money. You can build an entire system for the price of two 6800GTs though. If you plan on buying one card now and another maybe a year from now, consider that by then a single next generation card will probably outperform two 6800's anyways. So you may be better off just buying a single card and simply replacing it with something better when that time comes. No games will actually require SLI to run and the performance benefits will only be apparent at the highest resolutions and settings.
