I'm in the market for a new mouse and I do a lot of gaming. I don't want a wireless mouse. It must be optical. I'm trying to choose between something from Microsoft and Logitech, but I'm open to other companies if they have good mice. What do you guys think is a good mouse for gaming? Also, I really liked the Logitech MouseMan+, which is what this new mouse I want to buy will replace. It had a great feel to the hand (its contour).

The best mouse i've ever used, and continue to use is the Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical USB.

But good luck finding one, i haven't seen them in any stores lately.

The one with two regular buttons, middle wheel, and 2 more buttons, one left side, one right side.

Logitech. I've had mine for about 8 months and I play all FPS. Never had it miss a lick. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

My Logitech MX700 wireless mouse is excellent for gaming but very heavy because of the batteries. Since it's too heavy (it gives me a sore wrist after awhile) I just use it for gaming and have a second lighter wired mouse for surfing. The logitech software can be configured for 2 mice at once which is good.

Logitech MX500 would be my choice for a wired mouse. I prefer wireless mice and keyboards because of my kids. I can put them out of reach easier the corded components.

I have an MX700 and it works like a charm. I guess nowadays, wireless mouses are just as good. Furthermore, with the added freedom of cordless... you can move around freely without worrying about the cords coming in the way.

I love mine too its a great mouse. I have never had a problem with it at all.
The Logitech MX500 would be good too. I think it depends on which you like and wether the Intelli is still avilable.

I'll be getting a Sniper Boomslang 2100 this Thursday. It came free with my video card, just have to mail in the rebate. They say it's excellent for gaming.

Just a personal experience, I've used two MS Intellimouse Opticals and they have both developped jitters. Like while they're standing still the cursur will start to move back and forth very rapidly but only by a few pixels. It's not that annoying in regular operation but in an fps the whole screen jitters with it. It's not the worst thing in the world but it does give me the impression that they are cheaply built. I've always liked any logitech product I've used.

Not a devout Logitech fan but have to agree that for gaming, this mouse is awesome. Having a cord has never been an issue for me so this mouse was the perfect solution.

For gaming the Logitech MX series are great, especially the MX700 if you want a cordless mouse or the MX500 if you prefer a corded type mouse.
