Isn't Google's philosophy to keep employees on campus as much as possible? Sorry, you can keep you awesome looking offices. I'd rather have a job that doesn't kill me

I was offered at this place that had something similar. I wanted to work there so badly after seeing their campus... but employee reports online about the company draining the life out of them, the fact they were located in the "country" and had their own farm, and it was far away from family caused me to turn it down.

The way I see it, once you work there you become acclimated and it just wears off anyway.

My boss's boss took a tour of the new Toronto office shortly after it opened. Basically the rumours are true. He now says he wants to install a juice bar in our studio. Though I doubt accounting will let him.

While it does in fact look like an awesome atmosphere, it does make me wonder if the work environment is so stressful that it lead to having to do all that stuff just so people can stay sane.

Yeah, while those look pretty sweet, for me at least the novelty would wear off at some point. I agree, rather not have a job that kills me.

Pretty cool. While I enjoy my co-workers and my job, it would be cool to have some of the amenities. I either have to bring my lunch or go to a fast food chain(healthiest it gets is jimmy johns or chipotle). It would be nice having a lunch area, and maybe a sweet room to chill in for meetings.

True. But there are times a good 30 minute nap would make me infinitely more productive.

Apparently in years past our campus had a putting green and shuffleboard area.

I knew a guy that worked nights at Google in CA as a network admin. He said he loved it.

I forgot why he left though.

talk to some google employees...nobody is dying.
My only point is my quality of life at work is excellent and our buildings/offices couldn't be any more generic. As long as I have a comfortable chair, big enough monitors and my coffeemaker next to me I'm happy. Its all about the job, not the environment.

my hospital works nearby and when we asked a consulting firm for ideas for creating a more collaborative working environment for our residents, they said they visited Google and came back with designs and desk structures that look pretty similiar to that link. They had big areas where there was a giant tent with a couch in the middle or something to that effect.

And we laughed in their faces because thats totally not what we can accommodate in our cramped working environment.

Because they just leave once they get out of their 20's

Coming out of college I would have been like "ZOMG I want to work there!"

With a wife and 3 kids in the burbs I'm like "give me good coffee and a fast VPN" don't waste money on a fucking foosball table.
