Best Heatsink

Hey guys, Ive been overclocking my athlon 64 3200 skt 939 and ive reached 2500 Mhz on stock voltage with ease, but to reach 2600 Mhz I'm going to have to raise the voltage a bit if I wan't to pass prime95. I'm not exactly ready to do that with stock cooling. What do you guys think is the best air cooling solution considering noise, and space limitations (My 6800GT and PSU have my CPU pretty cramped on my MSI Neo2 Platinum). Thanks

Zalman and Thermalright are generally considered the best. Thermaltake's aren't nearly as highly regarded, but they are innovative and well priced, I've never had a bad experience with any of their products. Right now, I'm using a Gigabyte Rocket cooler (non-pro) and am very happy with it, lowered my temp 10deg from stock, and lowers my surrounding components another 2-3deg. But it is loud.

The Zalmans are nice and a great value. If you can fit an XP-120 on there it is the best you can get right now

The absolute best HSF on the market is actually a tossup between:
Thermalright SP-97
Thermalright XP-120

Other than that:
Zalman 7000series
Thermalright XP-90

XP-120+ 120mm Panaflo fan. Going to give you the best cooling w/o sounding like a hair dryer in your computer. the zalman Cu7700's are pretty good too. To get anybetter really than the xp 120, you'd have to go with water cooling or better.

I ordered my XP-120 from FrozenCPU about 2 weeks ago. They have a large selection, and the idem shipped out the same day that i ordered it. There are located in NY, so if your on the east coast thats a good thing.

i use a xp120 with a noiseblocker sx1 12cm fan. the 1200rpms the fan offers i more than enough, but you should check if the xp120 fits.
the nice side effect of the xp-120 is the airflow on the surronding components (rams etc).
and you cannot hear anything from it =)

What are your current CPU temps? Ypu may not even need a new heatsink, but could be at the limit of your CPU.

I know I can go higher because I reached 2.55 Ghz with normal voltage and it would run prime95 error free all day long. I just want a better heatsink before I raise voltages.

An XP-120 will fit on a Neo2 Platinum. It does block dimms 1&2 if the heatpipes are pointed towards the ram slots. I'm fairly sure you can turn it 180 degrees and then just stick the ram in before the HSF if you want to use slots 1&2. Don't quote me on the last part though as I only ever tried it with the heatpipes over the ram slots. Do a google search and I'm sure you could find some pics of the XP-120 installed on a Neo2.

According to Core Center it gets up to 64C. I don't really trust core center as that seems a bit high and I've heard that it does read high. I tried installing mbm5 but for some reason all my temps started to read at 125C. I don't know if core center interfered with it but I couldnt get it to work. So to answer your question i'm not quite sure

i guess mbm will report the same temp, but the problem is that it wont suuport your board out of the box since it is too new.

can you touch the Heatsink if it shows temp 64?
with xp-120 and a 1200rpm fan my cpu reaches 50° under load.
