Who would you recommend for alarm monitoring?

It's the same company listed under alarmsystemstore.com. I have been with them along with now about 5+ other friends and family I have recommended them to (most came from Brinks and ADT systems).

They call fast, they are professional and they even call when panel warnings happen (like low battery alerts) to let you know you have an issue.

You pay by the year and it's about $8.95/month per line you want monitored. I have a land line and a GSM backup so I pay about $18 for two lines of monitoring/month.

I have my setup to call the house first, the police or responder second and then my cell phone.

Zeus! Apollo!

Sadly they are great deterrents, but if you have stuff worth stealing (most don't), they will just shoot your dogs if needed. Sadly, even great watch dogs don't do much to strangers once they get inside.

We don't have POTS, our "landline" is Ooma VOIP ... can I use a spare GSM as our single and only line? If we can that would cost $8.95x12 + GSM prepaid cell phone service.

Who's talking about dogs? I mean the gods, Zeus and Apollo!
Besides, who needs a security system when you know Kung Fu!

(No, I don't know why I'm suddenly on a big Magnum PI kick today).

99.9999994% of Thieves want the least trouble when committing burglary. They want no fuss, they just want to go in get what they want and get out. So if they hear a pair of nasty sounding dogs behind the door, they will just move on to the next home.

You have to understand there are those just looking for easy money and those targeting someone's house.

Most don't have to worry about this shit.

When I got broken into they grossed $30,000+ based on my insurance payout. Even if they got 25-50% on the street it was a good heist.

I am on VoIP. It calls the station the same way.

What you can use as a backup, depends on you alarm. I'd recommend buying the $100 GSM devices that have a group plan that has been negotiated so you don't have to worry about GSM fees.

Do you know what alarm systems can be coonnected with cellphone?

I use AT&T and can do anything with my cellphone app. Arm/disarm, turn on/off lights, unlock/lock door, change either thermostat. Keeps logs of where doors were unlocked from, keypad, key fob, cellphone, main alarm pad. You can assign different pins for different people for outside deadbolt, and it logs which is used. Takes still pics or records videos with the outside camera, picks up when there is motion.

Here are some pics of the app;

Hope this helps.
