i have around 200 to spend and i wanna get the best bang for my buck...what do u guys think is the way to go...im looking for a cpu, mobo and maybe ram combo
For $200 I would go to http://www.newegg.com and order the following:
[*]MSI KM133M Motherboard - $80
[*]AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1GHz 266MHz Bus - $93
[*]Kingston Value RAM 128MB PC133 - $24
[*]Thermaltake VOLCANO II Heatsink + Dual Ball bearing Fan - $8
Total is $205 + shipping(around $10-$15)
The Motherboard has onboard sound and video. Also has an AGP slot for add-on video card. Some items are out of stock, but they usually come back into stock quickly...
You got to tell us the minium requirements on what you want? What type of CPU you want? HOw much RAM? Planning to overclock?
Well if you are on a budget, get a duron since they are overclockable and dirt cheap. RAM is cheap everywhere/
Just remember that with AMD Athlon/Duron systems that they are very picky about cheap ram. You can buy a 128 mb stick of PC133 Cas2 Crucial ram for about $30 now and it will work with no problems in AMD systems.
I'd say... MSI K7T-R or Asus A7V133, and an AMD 1GHz Thunderbird 266FSB bus. You can also get the RAM for pretty cheap, and the OCZ Gladiator as well. That should be just under $200. Well, maybe a bit more, with shipping and everything
Pay a lil more now...enjoy a lot more later. Of course i would recommend u buy from newegg.com...but the only thing i'd suggest is that you save up a hundred dollars more and get the:
1)1.33 T-bird 266 FSB OEM
2)Epox 8k7a mobo
3)crucial.com...and get the 256 stick of DDR...and ur set.
I know it doesn't really answer your thread but this exact setup has gotten me to 1.6...this and and a really nice HSF.
