hi guys i am new here and wanted to ask a question.
i am in for a new monitor.after pondering my mind over and over i have excluded the korean 27" monitors and the tn panel monitors from my list.
but right now i am confused between the right choice monitor in 24" segment.
i dont really care about insane response times or wide viewing angles neither i do any photography/image editing etc.all i do on my pc is gaming and watching movies.so my main concern is that the image should look the best of all like something on my sony tv or maybe even better.
so please suggest me some good monitors from ips/va panels.
also should i give any preference to e-ips(which is cheapest of all ips with some saying that it being no better than tn panel in colors etc except for viewing angles of which i really dont care much) with 6-bit colors over amva with true 8-bit colors or vice versa?the problem is there isn't any monitor outlet nearby so i cant compare the quality of each side by side.so any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated.
a few monitors which i have shortlisted are-
dell u2412m (cheap e-ips panel with 6bit)

both below are amva panels-
dell s2440l
benq gw2450hm.
the dell one is glossy but does glossy screen really make the picture quality very good??

so which one should i prefer?

Dell has the best warranty in the industry so you really won't go wrong with either a va or ips panel from them.

You can't go wrong with the Dell u2412m, I bought it for my mother a few weeks ago when her monitor died, great screen. I think it's probably one of the best 24" monitors out there, I'm looking to buy a new monitor for myself as well. I've had 24" monitors for years and was thinking of making the move to a 27" high res monitor and looking at the dell u2713hm but $650 is hard to swallow and that resolution is going to make everything super small so in order to read text you'll have to increase font size on everything. And I'm not sure if my video card could even handle gaming at that 2560 x 1440 resolution.

Hard to decide if I should fork out that kind of money, I want a monitor that is going to last for years to come since I'm going to be staring at it hours per day. I just wish there was a perfect monitor out there that had no deficiency's, I might end up just buying the u2412m for myself as well and upgrade to a higher resolution monitor a few years from now hopefully when OLED or some other tech is out there and affordable.

The Dell u2412m has been out for awhile now, I'm wondering if they are going to refresh it with a new model or something soon, I'd hate to order it for myself then in a few months they release a more updated model with even a better screen/response time.

EDIT: Found some info about new u2413 coming out soon, it's meant for professional color people just like the u2412 is, but this means the u2413M (M for Mainstream) should come out relatively soon I would think.

$650 for a high resolution 27" sounds good considering I paid the same for a 2408wfp years ago. Great panel though.

but a few problems which are stopping me from u2412m are lack of hdmi port as i game on xbox and ps3 also and using dvi to hdmi everytime becomes quite messy.
also i would prefer 16:9 over 16:10.
unless the picture quality of u2412m(not the viewing angles or refresh rate) is significantly better than all the monitors in this range i would like some other alternatives.
is the picture quality of dell 2440l anywhere near the u2412m or is the amva with 8 bit really behind the e-ips with 6bit or is there not major difference?
