Yeah, Last Crusade was probably the best of the 3. First one got dry at times, second one was AWFUL (Spielberg and Lucas both got nailed in a nasty divorce, and their moods projected onto the film).

Some odd trivia about Temple of Doom: the movie starts with Indiana Jones in a Shanghai nightclub named Club Obi-Wan. Also, his friend that is killed is named Wu Han. This was also one of the first movies to get a PG-13 rating becuase of the violence and gore.

It was out of necessity, not out of humor (at least from the beginning... it just turned out to be funny)

Hard to compare Raiders and Crusade, both great.

TOD was definetly the oddball though, kinda seemed like they got too commercial and gimmicky, lets get a stupid blonde thats screams and whines all the frikkin time and a kid with a high pitched voice and a fake accent to make "cute" jokes all day. Oh and lets throw in a scene to be gross just for gross's sake. Have them eat roaches and eyeballs and monkey brains. Hollywood exec's FTL

Man, so much hate for Temple of Doom. It is undoubtedly behind the other two, but christ, its still an Indiana Jones movie.

I actually grew up with Raiders, but I might say Crusade is my overall favorite.

I saw Crusade first, but Raiders edges Crusade out. Temple was alright, wished they went all out on the gore - I mean why rip out someones heart and not show the gaping chest cavity... and why show him squirming while being lowered into the pit???

EDIT: oops, just rewatched that part on USA. So he tears the heart out, the wound seals itself, the guy goes into the pit, the closer he gets the faster his heart beats until it bursts into flames. Hmm wonder why I remembered it another way.

Undoubtedly Raiders is the best film out of all 3. The opening sequence, the scene when they are digging into the Well of Souls in the sunset with Indy's silhouette pacing the dig site and the diggers singing, the melting Nazi faces, almost every scene is just classic.

That said, Last Crusade is tied with it in my book for pure enjoyment, one liners, chemistry between Ford & Connery, and expansion of the Indy universe without getting out of hand (ahem, Star Wars).

Temple of Doom is enjoyable, but overly cliched and silly at many times. Don't get me wrong, if it comes on TV, I'm sure to sit down and watch it through...I can't say that about many movies. The problem is when it's shown as part of a trilogy marathon, the others just outshine it so much, it makes it seem worse than it really is, IMO.

Hopefully the new flick doesn't let us down...

i like all three equally.

Raiders is classic and an epic introduction. Fun but also the most serious of the three (and that lends it some gravity)

Crusade is the most fun. Connery is fantastic. The father/son bantering and the action scenes are all great.

I dont know why everyone hates on Doom. It is equally as good. The opening 15 or so minutes are one of the best movie openings ever... from the chaos at the Chinese club (balloons) to the pilotless Airplane (so long Lao Chen!) to the life raft parachute I am laughing nonstop. The middle has the classic snake surprise, the insect scene, and the trap room (we... are going... to DIE.) The end has the mine car chase (water! water! WATER!), and then the rope bridge scene which is one of the most tense scenes ever (the music, the guys slowly coming at him from both sides.) I spend the most time talking about Doom because it gets the most hate, but it is just as great of an adventure as the other two. I'd say it nearly matches Crusade in hilarity, but it is also the most silly of the three and simultaneously the darkest. This combination might be why it throws some people off.

also to whomever said they were being shown out of order... chronologically Doom comes first followed by Raiders and Crusade
