I am looking for an indoor antenna for my hdtv to catch some over the air hd content. Is there a best one available that you can recommend?

Thanks,

Tri

For a very capable outdoor antenna, I  the Channel Master CM4221 antenna.

I picked up a $30 Philips "HDTV" antenna with a 50dB amp built in. I'm ~22 miles from all the stations (but I am on top of a hill), and it works pretty well indoors.

I'm looking for one myself. Heard some good things about the Zenith ZHDTV1 but don't actually have one yet.

That's what I have. I can only pick up Fox, CBS, and PBS though. I really wish I could get NBC and ABC but this is the 3rd antenna I've tried and the other 2 couldn't even get CBS.

Where are you located in relation to the towers? I am in Austin, and I get every OTA HD station available.

I have a Terk HDTVa and I'm pretty sure that I'm picking up all of the OTA stations I can get. I found that it's pretty fickle about where I place it though. I had to move it around a few times to get all of the stations. Currently, it's sitting behind my TV, which is perfect because it's out of site.

Antenna Web

Go there and put in your info it will tell you what color zone you live in and from there you can figure out what antenna would fit your needs the best.

Perfect because it is out of sight?! I think that the antenna is aesthetically pleasing.

I'm about 30 miles away from the towers. They are all located in the same direction except for PBS which is located in the opposite direction about 2 miles away. I can get it anyway since it's so close.

I can actually get ABC during prime time but the signal cuts out too often to be watchable. NBC i can't ever get. I don't know why. I guess they never air at full power.

Here a comparison of some indoor antennas. The Radio Shack 15-1862 seems to be pretty good. The newer version is the 15-1880, which you can sometimes find on Ebay. They are very hard to find in stores anymore, unfortunately.

EDIT: I didn't see a 15-1880 on Ebay, but there is a 15-1862 model listed under this title, "RADIO SHACK AMPLIFIED indoor UHF VHF FM TV ANTENNA."

I think you'd benefit greatly from having a long-range directional antenna, as well as the Terk, which has a wider reception swath.

I'm using some cheap antenna from Fry's ($20?), live about 35-40 miles away from the towers and can pickup every HD channel except for ABC in HD. I hear it's a crapshoot sometimes.

You mean like a rooftop antenna? No good. I live in an apartment.
