Best Laptop for around $1700?

I would like to purchase a Laptop with DVD RW, above avg video, 512 ram and at least 60gig HD. I have $1700 to spend not including tax.

I think Sony Vaios are great laptops. Don't go with HP or compaq. Dell is alright too...and Micron (if they make laptops!?!?)
