Best LCD monitor for my tired eyes..

Hi guys,

I've gone back to using my desktop PC after having latest model Tohsiba laptops. One thing I have noticed is that my 2yr old Dell LCD Ultra Bright monitor is causing me bad eye strain.

I don't know what to look out for in terms of buying a new monitor which will strain my eyes the least. Can someone please help. I'm looking for a 19", or a similar sized widescreen.

Some tips:

- calibrate your monitor, exact color accuracy is not important for most people, but at least have proper brightness/contrast levels
- have some ambient light behind monitor
- distance between your eyes and monitor should be at least 2 ft
- blink your eyes more often, do not stare at the screen more than 1hr straight, take breaks
- go outside, real daylight is healthy for the eyes

Another tip would be to occasionally look at something further away. Say every 15 minutes, you could stare at the wall at the other side of your room for maybe 30 seconds; or, walk away from the computer altogether.

Don't quote me on the numbers. The idea though is to relieve the strain on your eyes from having to focus on something close.
