Michael Bolton! Wow, what a showman!

Heh heh.

Seriously though, I saw a Yanni show a year or two ago and that was nuts. We were just a couple rows from the front and it was seriously an amazing show.

Best live show, sound quality, lights, pyro and stage design goes to:

CREED!

Damn they were good. Saw them about 5 times. The 1st time @ MSG and it was amazing. Sound quality was unbelievable!

Second place goes to Iron Maiden. What a show those guys play. Again, STAGE design is their main thing. Sound quality is also great.

3rd place goes to Nickelback. Saw them last year and their show was spectacular! Lots of pyro, loud and clear.

And the worst I have ever seen:

METALLICA! You could say they are my favorite band, however, those idiots need to fire and replace their entire sound crew. I mean, have you ever heard a good Kirk Hammet SOLO, live?

I have seen Metallica a good 15 times or so, and everytime I was dissapointed with their sound quality. Last time I saw them, Godsmack opened for them and they sounded much better.

Even the great symphony show (NY, MSG) was bad. Again, where the hell was kirk's guitar?

CKY... they purposely don't try to emulate how they sound on their albums which is refreshing. I think they're better live, actually.

From what I've seen, either Streetlight Manifesto or the Toasters

Edit: Dropkick Murphys are also really awesome live.</end quote></div>

Nice choices!!! Rancid is great live as well.

Murphy's will be in Wantagh in August!!!

Sweet. I saw them in Chicago back in March at the HoB. It would be cool to see them on LI, maybe I'll go.....

GWAR hands down. Most outragous, creepy, ridiculous, terrifiying, hilarious, and disgusting show I have ever seen in my life.

KT

Saw them on the "When the shit hits the fans" tour. Your assessment is spot-on, haha.

Phish... saw them twice, it was quite an experience.

What did the Phish fan say after forgetting to bring his drugs to the concert? "Wow, that sucked."

AK1200 puts on a damn good show, but there are a lot of dnb DJs I think do better... Grooverider back in the day, for one. I've seen Goldie about a half dozen times; a few times were weak, a few times were fine, once was unreal!

Nine Inch Nails have a fantastic stage setup

Yep.

I think the best concerts I've ever been to have been David Bowie shows.

That said, I lost touch with In Flames' music the last several albums. And I really don't care too much about their music these days.

 In Flames is great live, but Arsis is the best live band I have ever seen.

just watched Queen's Live Aid performance after hearing a comment on the Diana concert today...if you haven't seen it, watch it. It must be quite a rush to command an audience of that many people to all rise up and sing with you.

That's one thing I noticed today watching parts of the Diana thing...the Brits are very quick to join in...even the Princes were dancing and singing along. Pretty inspiring to watch them have so much fun in light of their troubles in recent days.

and...wait for it...wait for it....Kenny G and Color Me Bad. AT THE SAME TIME...also my first concert ever. Seriously its lucky I am not more messed up then I already am......"I wanna sex you up"!

I am sure I am forgetting some but obviously if I don't remember them they couldn't have been that great. I WILL say that Blink 182 was the worst.
and I will see Tool, Rage, The Roots, The White Stripes, and Daft Punk this summer....so i can't talk about them.

Out of all those bands I have to say radiohead cause I am such a huge fan and they are so damn talented and put on a great show.

Second place ive gotta go wtih Arcade Fire and Flaming Lips. Arcade fire put on a great show, they sound great and really get the crowd going. The Flaming Lips are just totally awesome and fun. Seriously if you are not happy at a flaming lips show you have a problem.

Third would probably have to go to Sigur Ros....they sound purty.

Why 'unfortunately'? I've never seen them live, but have definitely always wanted to. Interested to hear why they sucked live.

Picture this if you will...

1 song..
5 minutes of talking about politics
1 song..
5 more minutes of talking about politics
lead singers get into giant ball thing, and crowdsurfs over the stage: 5 minutes
1 song...

repeat. repeat. repeat. Have seen them 3 times (they opened for RHCP). They got booed 2/3 shows. I've seen some pretty sorry opening bands, but I've NEVER seen anyone get boo'ed like TFL

I don't like their music, I don't like their stage setup, and I don't think they're very good. Those are very subjective opinions. However, I can say objectively that they put on a piss poor live show. 3-6 songs in an f'n hour? christ.

Maybe its different when they play festivals and open for other people but when I saw them headline the Soco show in philly they were totally awesome. People dancing, smoke everywhere, lights non stop, confeti, nude chicks on the screen, fans dancing on the stage, and ontop of all that some damn good music. Seriously the most FUN concert i've ever been to. He did stop to talk once and a while but it did not concern me. I suggest everyone to try and see them.

You obviously haven't seen Nofx live... they were one of the worst performances I have ever seen. Last time I saw them was about 4 years ago, right before they put out the album "war on errorism" (i think)...

El Hefe was too drunk to stand, the rest were hammered, the kept stopping in the middle of songs, they played a new song the were writing and got about 2 mins into it before giving up, most of the time they went off about bush and the war, they only other thing they talked about the drinking game they had played before the show (it was a pretty ridiculous thing, basically they mixed a bottle of whatever alcohol they had and passed it to the person to the left... then you had to drink it)...

Nofx put out a live album a few years back called "I heard they suck live..."
it is a running joke with the band... they blow live.

Best small venue/crowd show I saw: Black Crowes. Saw them perform back in the early 90's at a very small, NBA training facility. Probably only about 1,000 people, if that, on a gym floor with some bleachers. They put on amazing live show. I still have a drum stick and pack of Black Crowes rolling papers that were tossed out into the crowd.

Best large venue/crowd show: RUSH. I don't think their current shows can match what they did 15+ years ago though. They still put on a great show but I'm glad I saw them when I did.

Runner-ups: Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, Iron Maiden and Neil Diamond. Yep, I said Neil Diamond. Seen him a few times and had a blast every time.
