Absolutely. For self-defense, there is NO better martial art. You don't need to be strong or fast, just have to know how to use the enemy's strength against them.

Any why is that one the best?

The best style depends a lot on the individual and what they really want. My preference is Aikido. Significantly less agressive than most of the styles you listed, although even that depends on the practitioner.

Looking at your tally so far with 116 votes, Tae Kwon Do has many votes and I'm not sure why except that it is a very popular sport.

Jeet Kune Do is both defensive and offensive. If taught "correctly" it is a great form of martial arts because of it's economy of motion and lack of "flashy moves" or "cool stances."

The reason I would go with Aikido over Jeet Kune Do is that the latter appears to require greater speed and strength to execute well. Obviously given two combatants of equal ability victory will usually go to the stronger, faster, and heavier. Of course, I have never studied Jeet Kun Do so check it out yourself.

Judo for on the ground fighting/grappling. Aikido for keeping opponents at bay and diasabling them.

Voted Aikido. I'd love to learn it.

i took Tai Kwon Do when i was young. it is easy to learn, but it has no real value as it is for self defense only. you can't attack with it properly. interesting that a lot of people chose Krav Maga. it is and israeli martial art. again, we invent things because we're so god damn aggresive! BTW, what about Brazilian Capoeira? although it is more of a combination of martial arts and a kind of dancing, it is equally dangerous.

I take Muay Thai w/ Boxing.

I've taken Kenpo Karate and it's too form/art oriented. With Muay Thai you get into shape and you learn how to just plain fight. It's fun stuff.
