I don't see my favourites in the list: Zulu, Tunes Of Glory, Paths Of Glory, I Accuse (1958), All Quiet On The Western Front, Battle Of Britain, The Enemy Below, The Big Red One, Fail-Safe, On The Beach, Hell's Angels.

I am complaing that some of these movies were not really "war" Movies.

A few good men and Top Gun I say are not war movies.

I see now that no one on this baord watched any movies older than 2000 with all the votes for Saving Private Ryan, while good, the ones below are much better nad would implore people to expand their viewing to some older classics.

Apocalypse Now is a masterpiece.

Patton is also ridiculously good.

I agree, while I still like BHD better, Apocalypse Now is much better than SPR IMO. If you look past the settings, I just think that AN was done better, which is hard to say in two amazing movies.

Oh, absolutely. Oddball is hilarious and so is Crapgame.

Kelly's reactions to Oddball are so subtle, yet hilariously perfect.

I like "Maybe he's a Republican". That line was great.

I agree - think its sad that most of these people think SPR is the best movie ever. I love Patton, and it got my vote.

I wouldn't be as disgusted if things like AN, FMJ and Platoon were up there as they are also excellent movies but the old saying is true here, they just don't make 'em like they used to.

I voted for Tears in the Sun. Frigging awesome cine and total bad A unit.

Notably (by me) missing from the list "The Tuskegee Airmen", "In Harm's Way" (John Wayne), "PT 109".

Other movies you might like unless you have a very short attention span... "The Seven Samurai" Starring Toshiro Mufune (the tall rogue samurai). IMDB listing. If you know nothing about it, The Magnificant Seven was created based on it. TSS was more of a war movie than a "western". Degree of Difficulty, in Japanese with English subtitles.

Another one I like, but more for the dilemma it poses than the military/movie itself is The Final Countdown.
