Best MOBO For A64 3400+

Anyone have any suggestions? I was currently looking at an MSI K8N Platinum

That's what I'm running now with my A64 3200+. No problems overclocking it to 2.2 and it's as stable as can be. I highly recommend that mobo.

MSI K8N Neo Platinum is a great board if you are looking to overclock.

If you are not overclocking, go for anything with a good name really.. I went for the Asus k8v se deluxe because it seemed like it had the least amount of problems (and asus is a great name), while the msi k8n had the most amount of problems (at the time). Recently, there are less and less problems with the board, so I would reccomend it now.

I dont really care about the price, but since i really wont be overclocking, is there anything cheaper but just as good? I might as well, but if not its not a huge deal. Thanks...people were telling me this had lots of problems lol

I have no idea what the best MB for 3400+ is. I went with the EPoX 8KDA3J, and I think I'll buy more of them. This is a no frills, basic nForce3-250Gb MB that has most of the essentials. SATA, RAID, Gb-LAN, cool 'n quiet. If you want/need more features, there's a more expensive '+' version, 8KDA3+, I think.

Only bad I have to say about it, is that it was difficult to install 3'rd part heatsinks (Stock cooler installs like a breeze). But it was entirely due to the makeshift solutions for socket 754/939, by the heatsink manufacturers. And I'll guess the problems are the same, whatever MB you choose. In the end, I was greatly helped by the backplate&frame coming with the MB. With other bolts and spacers, I was able to use them instead.
I also think the newer fibreglass backplate for Zalman 7000 makes it easier (the metal/paper one is useless). I've ordered such newer cooler for the next, and will know soon enough.

I'm getting the Asus K8N-E Deluxe. I considered MSI K8N Neo Platinum but I went to the MSI forums and what I saw there, simply scared me off. I know that concerning all products "YMMV" but the MSI board seems to randomly hit people with numerous nasty and annoying problems. Many users are complaining and even claim that it's an "unready" product. Since I'm building my system for the next two years, I don't want a lottery. That's why I decided to refrain from ordering this well-equipped, great looking and fast mobo. MSI got even worse in my eyes when I read all the horror stories about their new 6800 GT cards - people RMA them en masse. Sorry, MSI, I won't play your hit or miss game.

Funny.. I stayed away from the MSI board because of the same reasons, till the Soltek board I had caught fire once I put my new GeForce 6800 GT in it.. bought the MSI board to replace it and it works like a champ.. I wonder if the MSI people who are RMA'ing "en masse" have decent PSU's.. /shrug. Just some food for thought.
