best mobo for e6600 (more involved than you think)

Before you attack, I've read the other threads about mobos and the E6600. Here's my problem: I already have the Gigabyte DS3 and good ram... but I'm hearing that the DS3 is best for the E6300 and E6400. Should I be getting the 775 chipset? Also, I was told that my ram is not great for overclocking since it is not micron D9. Sooooo, I am considering:

1) getting a new mobo that will OC well with my ram or
2) getting new ram that will work well with my mobo or
3) getting new mobo and ram (micron D9 based ram and Asus mobo)

I've been reading a lot about the Asus mobos (the P5W DH, P5B-E plus and P5B Deluxe) and they all seem pretty good. Should I ditch the OCZ Platinum for some micron D9? I'm thinking I might have to ditch both the mobo and ram for a stable max OC - what do you guys think?

Do you mean 975 chipset? From what I've read, generally speaking the 975 works 'better' with the e6600 and the 965 with the lower chips.

Also, I was told that my ram is not great for overclocking since it is not micron D9.

Generally speaking, it appears a lot of enthusiasts rave over the Micron ICs such to the point that they are in high demand and limited supply (=more $). Team Extreem is one such module set with a lot of supporters (and guaranteed to have Micron on board).

Personally I think getting rid of your working board and memory for a new combo is a lot of money to throw out. Are you being hampered by your current system that you need the (potential) higher overclocks?

Do you have a North bridge cooler on the DS3 yet? Took one guy's FSB that was maxing at 333 to 400+ (he was happy at 400 and didn't push it any farther).

What stability tests are you failing on? What stability tests are you passing?

If you are passing the CPU only tests, Passing RAM tests, and failing blend/gaming tests when your ram is at or under it's stock speed then your north bridge may be over heating.
