I use my computer for 50% web browsing, 40% reading black text on white background and 10% gaming (Overwatch). I don't care about gaming at high resolution, it's not a determining factor.

Right now I am using dual Dell 24" U2414H 1080p monitors. I also have a QStar 27" 1440p monitor that I used to run at 96hz but it's just sitting around. Running with a Geforce GTX 750 Ti video card.

I'm at a point where I want to spend money on the things that I do the most and am willing to spend more on a quality monitor IF it makes a difference. With my usage, would it make sense to upgrade to a 144hz monitor? I'd want something that's easy on the eyes (strain wise).

Read mentions of OLED monitors but they're quite expensive. Some say 2017 is hte year to look forward to for new models. If I go back to a single monitor, I'd want a 1440p one, otherwise I'd prefer dual monitors for 1080p.

I don't think you are going to see very significant difference with a new monitor compared to your current setup given your requirements.

I would recommend getting an eye exam done, making sure you have good backlighting around your monitors, maybe try changing away from white text on black background if you are experiencing eye strain. Try using a program or setting a profile on your monitor so that you can lessen the blue light and see if that helps.

I found out that I have very very marginally bad eyesight. One "step" towards astigmatism and while I really do not need them I wear glasses at work because I also have to read a lot of text, white papers, PowerShell, etc. It has really helped to cut down on that tired eyes feeling.

Ditto the suggestion about trying different colors for background/text. My windows screens default to a very light gray or blue with black text and it's easy on the eyes. Also, you didn't mention if you wear glasses, but if you do then buying a pair made specifically for computer use would also help. I wear a pair of "office/computer" glasses with a slight astigmatism plus progressive bifocal lenses that adjust eyesight from one to about 12 feet, and love them. There are also computer glasses made that don't correct vision but are tinted a particular way, like a really pale yellow, that are supposed to be really good for all day screen time. I don't remember the brand offhand.

I should note that I have no eye issues, If anything I want to avoid developing them.

I read up more on 144hz and it seems they induce more eye strain. I guess I'll stick with my dual 1080p 60hz for now.
