Best Motherboard for 8350 cpu

Hi all,

I was wondering if I could get advice on the best motherboard and ram for a fx8350 cpu? I would like to stay under $250 for the mb and ram. I will be getting 32gb of ram. I really want a board that can handle up to 64g ram but there doesnt seem to be very many. I love Asus and was looking at the M5A99FX PRO R2.0 but it seems weird to be buying a motherboard that has been on the market for 3 years. Also I haven't been able to find any AMD boards that can handle quad channel.

1) Don't buy an FX-8350, it's nearing 4 years old at this point.

2) There are no quad channel AMD boards.

Go with an Intel i5 or i7, AMD just doesn't have anything that can compete available.

You are way late to the AMD FX game. Almost all of the decent boards have dried up and are no longer being sold on Newegg. The new AMD AM4 platform is about to be introduced next month which is why. The new AMD Zen Octocore will be released in Q4 2016 later this year.

THAT will have quad channel memory support.

If you absolutely must build an AMD FX system with that budget I would recommend

Unless someone has a gun to your head and is telling you to build now, I would wait. I am really curious to see what Zen is going to be like.

GA-990FXA-UD5 R5 for $119.99 at Amazon. $50 less than Newegg for some reason. Regardless, I have this paired with a FX-8320E and I quite like it. Solid board with good overclocking options and ability.

If you're building a new rig, wait.

If you have a FX-8350 already, maybe the mobo in the link below will work? In my mind, your goal has to be to build this rig as cheap as possible, since Zen comes out soon.

Well I broke down and went with the following. I always seem to have to build a system in between technologies. I guess I cant complain though since I am still using the system I built 9 years ago with all the same parts(except hard rives of course) and it runs 24x7. Unfortunately I need more memory to run the apps I am now so I couldn't wait. I wanted to go cheap but remembered in the end cheap = waist and a headache.

I use my machine for work. The hardware I went with should keep me happy for another 10 years.
