I don't think you will be able to save much money on the price of that board by finding an older one.
If you are afraid of the ECS due to all the people who are having problems with them, probably a Shuttle would be the next cheapest without getting something really scary like PCChips.

Ironically, ECS (who make the k7S5A) ARE pcchips. They're the same company and same factory.
