You do know how to build a system with one of those types of boards I hope? They're not standard ATX and have a lot of quirks.

The downside to the Supermicro boards is they do not seem to support SAS hard drives, only SATA !! Am I wrong on that ?

The Tyan that toadeater linked to (S5397) would be better than the Tyan S5396, which was created for an OEM vendor initially and won't support 1600mhz fsb cpu's and 800mhz ram. The s5397 does.

As for the SM boards, they have this 'UIO' riser which is essentially a pcie slot. You can get SAS cards from Supermicro by looking at their UIO cards...

UIO cards ?? what is that ??

What I would like to see in the near future is a mobo that supports:

- Intel Quad Core * 2
- 5400 chipset
- Dual Channel DDR3 RAM
- SAS hard drive

Am I dreaming in technicolour ??
