Sure there might a few others like Leon, Ed Wood, Natural Born Killers that could be considered..but to me '94 will always be known as the three in the poll, and "other".

Holy shit, yea great movies did come out at 1994.

Remember, out of those, Shawshank was a theatrical bust. It was long after when the movie caught on to the godly status today (and rightfully so).

How did she use Forrest?

Did you conveniently forget their friendship that started from childhood?

Jenny was the only one that stuck through Forrest when he was bullied as a kid and in HS.

Jenny didn't use Forrest. She stayed with him briefly when she was at her lowest. Then she left to be on her own again, because that's who she is. She was pulling double shifts as a waitress raising little Forrest until she realized she was about to die from cancer/AIDS.

'Using Forrest' would be Jenny milking all worth's of Forrest and his filthy-rich Bubba-Gump Shrimpin' biz.

Nah, you're not the only one. Jenny sucked.

What a year 1994 was for movies. I was in college, and saw them all in the theater. I remember loving quite a few, but my fave is easily Shawshank. I loved it back then and still do today.

I didn't like Jenny very much though. She did seem to be a bit of a bitch at times. She was like, "I'm gonna fuck yah and leave... then have a baby and push him onto you. Fuck yaaahhh, live life SUPAH HARD... Snort dat coke baby!"

Jenny just sucked at her own life. She couldn't help it:

-No mom & piece of shit dad molested her as a little girl
-Dad was taken away by police and she lived in a piece of shit trailer park with her grandma
-Fucked up childhood = fucked up adulthood

Jenny has always loved Forrest and vice versa. In the end, she cleaned up very nicely & wanted to stand on her own for once. I applaud her for that. That's why you see Jenny working hard as a waitress with little Forrest in her own apartment.

She would've sucked for sure if she just mooched off of Forrest, but she didn't. She struggled in most of her life and she has that certain dignity about her.

True. I forgot about the family thing.

Jenny has some sympathy points from me.

I'm going to say it now, I hope Shawshank Redemption doesn't win this poll like it does every other reader fav movie poll on the net. Yes it was an OK tear jerker of a film that had some fine sentimental moments but it is FAR from the best movie ever (as it is often portrayed). I voted Pulp Fiction just because I can't think off the top of my head what else came out that year.

I voted shawshank not because it was "sentimental" but because it gives you some perspective on life. I watch it every year or so, so that I can remember why I need to escape my own personal prison.

but yea, Pulp Fiction was a more interesting movie and forest gump was a more masterfully done movie.

There's the winner:
Léon
Interview with the Vampire is up there too.

wtf

natural born killers
and clerks

The Hudsucker Proxy
The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert

... I think may be I just became aware at the age of 12-13 and that's why every movie from 1994 seems good to me?

Tearjerker?

As for Jenny, that's the point. It reminds me of the people going off about Furlough in T2. Yes the character is fairly annoying, but that's the character that fits the story.

I love movies and have never been able to tell anyone what my favorite one is under any category. It's pretty much the impossible question. But in this case I actually voted Forrest Gump. Maybe I just need to watch Shawshank again.

This thread did get me to peruse the list of 1994 movies and now I'm planning to watch Maverick again as well.

I would say Shawshank is overall better than Pulp Fiction but I really dont like having to pick one or the other as Best.

I miss the mid 90's. Much like the 70's, when in a recession it seems all forms of art improve, especially movies. Directors and producers focus on the quality of story and story-telling.
Unfortunately we started to pull out of the recession by the late 90's and the bulk of movies went downhill with visuals outweighing content.

to my dying day, I will never understand the fanwank love that Shawshank Redemption gets.

I mean, it was an enjoyable movie but it never rose above the level of "generic feel-good movie #917458" in my mind.

from that list, I'd go with Pulp Fiction but Leon would also be a strong contender... maybe not the "best," but Serial Mom was probably the most entertaining movie of 1994

Oh man...

Shawahank
Pulp Fiction
Leon (The Professional)

are all favorites.

Also pretty good are
True Lies
Stargate

I think I have to vote for Leon due to lack of the option in the poll

Worst fight poll of 2010 (94)
