Am I the only one who hated the Jenny character in Forrest Gump??? She's a whore that used Forrest. F her to hell.
How did she use Forrest?
Did you conveniently forget their friendship that started from childhood?
Jenny was the only one that stuck through Forrest when he was bullied as a kid and in HS.
Jenny didn't use Forrest. She stayed with him briefly when she was at her lowest. Then she left to be on her own again, because that's who she is. She was pulling double shifts as a waitress raising little Forrest until she realized she was about to die from cancer/AIDS.
'Using Forrest' would be Jenny milking all worth's of Forrest and his filthy-rich Bubba-Gump Shrimpin' biz.
I didn't like Jenny very much though. She did seem to be a bit of a bitch at times. She was like, "I'm gonna fuck yah and leave... then have a baby and push him onto you. Fuck yaaahhh, live life SUPAH HARD... Snort dat coke baby!"
Jenny just sucked at her own life. She couldn't help it:
-No mom & piece of shit dad molested her as a little girl
-Dad was taken away by police and she lived in a piece of shit trailer park with her grandma
-Fucked up childhood = fucked up adulthood
Jenny has always loved Forrest and vice versa. In the end, she cleaned up very nicely & wanted to stand on her own for once. I applaud her for that. That's why you see Jenny working hard as a waitress with little Forrest in her own apartment.
She would've sucked for sure if she just mooched off of Forrest, but she didn't. She struggled in most of her life and she has that certain dignity about her.
I'm going to say it now, I hope Shawshank Redemption doesn't win this poll like it does every other reader fav movie poll on the net. Yes it was an OK tear jerker of a film that had some fine sentimental moments but it is FAR from the best movie ever (as it is often portrayed). I voted Pulp Fiction just because I can't think off the top of my head what else came out that year.

or you're just giving yourself the benefit of selection biasI would say Shawshank is overall better than Pulp Fiction but I really dont like having to pick one or the other as Best.
I miss the mid 90's. Much like the 70's, when in a recession it seems all forms of art improve, especially movies. Directors and producers focus on the quality of story and story-telling.
Unfortunately we started to pull out of the recession by the late 90's and the bulk of movies went downhill with visuals outweighing content.
