I have a WNDR3700 by netgear and I like it; however, it's still a draft n router. I'm not sure that anyone is really making standard N gear yet (however I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong). If you don't absolutely need the extra speed, going with a nice G router (for a much lower price) might be a safer bet for the time being. If you already have a G router and you definitely want N, then the WNDR3700 is a good choice (and I'm sure there are a few other good ones out there).

Give us a list of real Standard 802.11n Routers and we would tell you which is the Best of the list.

If you are looking for an Excellent Router.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833162134

And a Giga Switch (if your Network cards support it).

So we are talking $15 + $48 and you will look like a pro.

Flash the Router with this takes few minutes) and you will have a gaming Network too. http://www.polarcloud.com/tomato

I stand corrected. This is good news.

Ironically, we all act like there were major changes between "802.11n Draft 2.0" and the new "standard."

Guess what... there isn't. We waited 2 years while everyone and their brother sued CSIRO... well tried to anyway... If you have draft 2 devices... they will pretty much work with any other draft 2 devices as well as the new n standard devices without issue.

Edit: So I got curious... wen't to netgear's site. The router I have and recomended above is now "802.11 certified." So I guess there are routers out there that are up to the "standard"

The new Fonera 2.0n is intriguing:
less than $100
802.11n
print server
NAS
Fon network

My only problem with it is that it is not 2.4/5.0GHz and that it is not 802.11n MIMO (thus only 150Mbps).

That is an interesting looking router.

The wiki page here: http://wiki.fon.com/wiki/Fonera_2.0n_Specifications does say that it's MIMO (2x Transmit / 2x Receive)... however the same page also says 150mbps (though the FON page itself says 300mbps... so um... I'm not even sure what to make of it).

Here's a pretty cool video of some of the features: http://www.mobilewhack.com/fon-launches-fonera-20n-web-applications-router/

True. But when in doubt ... I would go with the lower spec.
As far as I understand, it is only MIMO for the "second" wifi network it sets up: all Fon routers should be MIMO in that way: 1 wifi network is your private wifi and 1 wifi network is a public wifi that other Fon users can log into to access your internet connection.

I would get it in a heartbeat if it supported concurrent 5GHz/2.4GHz connections. Wifi in my area is horribly crowded and this would be the first 5GHz router, so I would finally get a decent wifi connection. At the same time, I would like my old 2.4GHz devices to connect to it without kicking me off 5GHz.

My dream router:
- 802.11n
- concurrent 5GHz/2.4GHz MIMO
- NAS (via USB)
- Print server (ideally so the print server can work at the same time as the NAS via an external USB hub; nice but not a must)
- gigabit ethernet
- dd-wrt

Any recommendations?

I'm waiting for better support from DD-WRT/Tomato for n routers before I hop ship. -- Hoping that DD-WRT will eventually support Netgear WNDR3700 (Atheros Chipset)
