Best online fax solution?

Any opinions? Looking to get rid of our stores fax line since it's a huge waste of money and we rarely fax. I saw some google fax or some company affiliated with google offering one that i would have signed up for in a heart beat, except for they don't offer the ability to port over your number, which i need.

SO, with that being said, what's the best online fax company that offers number porting?

Pretty much no matter how you do this, you will have to pay for that local line. You don't "port" a number, your telco sets up an RCF (basically forwards the fax line calls to the online service people)

Just find an old fax machine and plug it in. There's no reason to go to the online fax crap unless you deal with fax all the time, in which case you need to remind your company that it's no longer 1989.

Seriously? It seems so much easier online the way they describe it. Plus a land line costs a lot more than a few bucks for the online equivalent.

I have used efax.com before and it was OK, never priced compared but I think it's reasonable so YMMV.

Plenty of fax to email solutions out there, google it. Do you have a network copier? Most have built in faxing like our Xerox's at work.

We use myfax.com for sending faxes from email and receiving faxes to email and it has worked well so far.

Same. I actually used efax several times today and it worked great.

Not sure of how competitive the pricing is. I believe it's $16 for 150 pages per month and 10 cents per additional page after that.

In some places that could beat out the cost of a phone line.

The faxes come in and are emailed to you. Really simple.

I had a good experience with eFax at a previous company as well.

Edit: Also, the benifits of electronic fax are several. It's not simply about cost. It goes through your email system so it's something that all your employees already use, it will get backed up with your email, the documents can easily be forwarded to other people without needing to rescan which results in degraded quality, and if you have a document management system it can routed directly to that system for processing.

I use www.smartfax.com

6.95 a month for maybe 250 pages? It's great and I haven't had any issues whatsoever in the year I've been using it. I would definitely recommend it!

hellofax is fantastic and easy to use. Not sure if they do number porting, but you can check.
