I've done my research and i can't seem to find a general conclusion about what is the best online florist.

1800flowers.com and florists.com seem to be pretty good, but i wanted to get your opinions on which one you think is the best.

Also, do you guys know if they deliver to work places, say the 4th floor? I need it delievered to a specific individual at the office... Would they make sure that she would get it?

I like 1800, but they will only be able to deliver it to the receiving department. If there is a receptionist where your girl works, it might be posible to send it to her, but as far as 1800 is concerned, if somone signs for it, the flowers were delivered.

As for her getting the flowers, unless it is a huge organization with a million departments, a first and last name will suffice and whoever signed for them, I am sure will get them to her. Flowers are a little conspicuous so stealing them for them selves are a little harder to do.

Online and phone places are pretty expensive and the quality/delivery may be inconsistent.

If you know what you want, call a local florist in your GF's area and use a credit card. Be prepared to deliver a message for the card to the lady over the phone. I do it all the time.

What do you mean you don't have a GF in each time zone???

This is what I would do. I would stay away from any 1-800 number or website.
Just call a local florist, they will do a better job for you.

Keep in mind that FTD and 1-800-flowers are nothing more than a middleman. They contract with local florists and only act as an advertising/marketing arm. Delivery is only as good as the local florist who gets assigned the order. Save a few bucks and call the local florist closest to your gf place.

I used 1-800-flowers.com once and they had a promotion going with Delta which gave me 30,000+ frequent flyer miles for the $100 I spent

ftd.com always get them there same day for me, and the flowers tend to be nicer than 1800 Flowers.

a local florist would be best and probably cheaper thatn 1-800

I once recieved flowers from work when i had surgery and they sent them to my house but the florist found out i was not home yet and delivered them directly into my hospital room.

I used to use proflowers but there holiday policy started to aggravate me. If a holiday falls on a weekend (valentines or whatever) they charge you extra to "guarantee" friday delivery or you pay normal and hope to get friday delivery. Of course I didnt pay the extra fee and they came on thursday. They didnt do this when I started using them like 4 years ago.

I've used 1800 a couple of times. I wasn't impressed with their timeliness or quality.

I ordered with them, their "timelieness" was perfect, ordered on a sunday, shipped monday arrived tuesday. The quality wasa bit poor, they only lasted 3 days but i called them ,they sent another batch out again overnight, and gave me an $8 gift certificate. The second time the flowers lasted much longer.

Thumbs down for 1800flowers and FTD. I've spend hundred's with both. Delivery issues, crap "cards", flowers don't last long very long. One time I had a delivery guy try to deliver flowers to my girlfriend Valentine's evening on his way home from work, because they weren't able to deliver them during the day. Um.. right.. you mean I'd gone through the trouble of ordering flowers and not planning on taking her somewhere that evening? Another time, I opted for one of those cards they pitch you. Instead my girlfriend got a little printout that somebody tore out of the printer. That was worth the extra $5 or whatever.

I stick with Proflowers nowadays. They get delivered FedEx, so if FedEx delivers regularly to your gf's place of work it shouldn't have any problems getting there. The flowers are also a higher quality. They're always saying "direct form the grower", and I do find them to me much fresher. And they tend to last quite a bit longer than 1800flowers or FTD's, up to a good 2 weeks. Part of the reason is because (and I don't know if it is just because of the arrangements I got) they include different flowers in different states of bloom.
