Hello, I was wondering if there was a better option for cooling my 5930k with OC. I am currently running a H110i GT. However, it seems the temps are a bit high so I am wondering if it is not working properly. I am at 4.2 GHz, about 1.18 Vcore at load. Idle temps are usually between 40C and 50C, and upon stressing with CPUz it quickly shoots to 80C.
In comparison, my other desktop with a 4930k ES is equipped with a Hyper 212 Evo, and gets much better temps. The load vcore for this system is around 1.26 V, though the frequency is lower. It uses an aggressive turbo boost @ 3.9 GHz on all cores from my Gigabtyte X79-UP4. Max temps under CPUz stress test is around 50C. Idle is around 30C.
Is there something wrong with my H110i, and would I be better off with another hyper 212 or similar air cooler? Not looking to spend much money on it, so I would say custom water is out of the question at this point.
I should mention my corsair H110i is rather noisy, and the corsair software never worked properly with it. Also, when fans are controlled by the USB, the USB would drop out intermittently and they would run at full speed for a few seconds.
