Best option for data integrity on Security DVR

I'm building a security DVR, probably will have 8 IP cameras total, they are 1440p. I want to have about a week of footage so i'm looking at at least 6TB. What would be the best way to protect the footage from hard drive going bad? Should I go brute force RAID1 2x6TB (most expensive) or would something like a bunch of cheap 2TB drives with something like Drivebender/Drivepool work? I see some really cheap 2TB drives out there so i can get 10x 2TB refurb drives for the cost of 2x6TB. Would drivebender/pool provide enough redundancy? Thanks for the insight!

6TB a week, and you want to copy that recording to backup drives? First, RAID isn't for backup, backups are for backups.
If this is high security, then RAID1 won't cut it. RAID 6 or 10 would be a better bet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAID_6#RAID_6
I would also use a hardware RAID controller, but, not sure how much you want to spend.
You are trying to have enough fault tolerance to prevent the array from not recording anything.
Then from that, you copy to a backup device, be it optical, tape, cloud, whatever.

Backblaze it if you have fttp. Otherwise two layer backup to external hdds.
