Which opteron should I get? I wuld like a dual-core CPU that can OC towards an FX-60 or a higher up X2. I don't want to nearly murder wallet though.

I'd get the 3800.. faster, better multiplier for overclocking, cheaper and cooler.

Opty with the coupon. Although the new 3800s have been pretty consistent you still dont see as many with the high clocks as the optys

I've heard good things about the 06 X2's, so the 3800 might be a good idea.

Definitely consider 2006 X2s, they OC just as well as the Opterons

If that's the case, I'd go with a retail X2, since it won't be more than $10 over a coupon'd OEM 165 from Monarch. Plus, I hate Monarch.

But I'd check into '06 X2 overclocks, OP, just to see how they are actually faring.

What's wrong with them? I'm planning to order a bunch of stuff from them in the next few days, but I have never bought anything from them before.
