Best OTC medicine to help fall asleep

Let's jsut state that i royally fucked my sleep schedule up...

I have been trying to get it back on track, but its impossible, ill just lay there awake trying to sleep..

anyways, what do you recommend?

Nyquil? Benadryl? Sleep4everyl?

1.5 dose of Nyquil works great.

A bottle of wine works well too.

Benadryl (diphenhydramine, also an ingredient in branded sleep aids and X PM stuff) puts me to sleep. Slight hangover the next day, even from half an adult dose (25mg). I'm pretty sensitive to downers, I think.

Doxylamine Succinate (Unisom and others, I think) is stronger. I had a bad time with that once, where I woke up with the shakes for 20 minutes, so I don't take that anymore. And I'm talking half a dose of it, no alcohol, or anything else. Again, I think I'm sensitive to downers.

All the other stuff's main active ingredient is alcohol.
The other active ingredients in those OTC drugs are weak in comparison.

also, melatonin has nothing to do with herbal snakeoil bullshit. It's the chemical produced in the brain that kicks off the start of the sleep cycle. It's none of this "make tea from the root of an ancient herb found only on horse shit and it will cure your crows feet" nonsense




OP, try unisom sleeptabs with doxylamine succinate. Diphenhydramine doesn't work for me, and nyquil leaves a nasty hangover. Doxylamine does neither for me. Just good sleep.

Unconvincing troll is unconvincing. You're just as likely to get shit you don't want from the plant as you are to get things you do want, and with herbals being completely unregulated you might be getting chunks of the wrong part of the plant without any way to tell or any recourse.

Almost all the OTC has the same stuff in it, just a different box and price tag. I get the tablets so you can take only one pill and get half the dosage. NyQuil works well too.
