Best P4 Mobo?

My roomate is looking to spend around $130 and wants to know what the best P4 motherboard is. like most features and has to be a good stable one.

Right now I would go with the Asus P4S800D-E Deluxe

It can be had for $103 shipped at newegg.com

It has the new 655TX chipset and the board has Giga Ethernet, 6ch sound, Wi-Fi port, SATA raid, firewire, supports the newwest P4's, etc.....

Can't go wrong here.

Ill put in another vote for the Asus P4S800D-E Deluxe, I'm using one and find it to be excellent. At first I was wary of using an SiS chipset but it seems they are moving back toward quality again.

My P4S800Dlx i (SIS655TX) is par with any I865 and I875 board that I currently run.

Do you even read the reviews for it. Faster then the 865pe and about as fast as a 875 but juts cheaper and has more options.

Yes, I've seen reviews. There's a lot of variation between the results from different parties. Correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't SIS used to claim the 655FX chipset was also "just as good as 875 and 865PE" in initial reviews?

In the end, the most recent reviews show that initial benchmarks were not as accurate as we thought. Perhaps you would like to link me to your favourite review which proves it to be worthy.

I'm still sceptical about SIS's products. I bought one of the Gigabyte's first 533mhz Northwood supporting SIS 645 boards. Apparently it was meant to compete with the 845 intel chipsets on performance and that was a big lie. Early reviews always show something like this. 655FX was shown to outperformed 875 in benchmarking when they were out, but look at the latest benchmarks as opposed to early claims and reviews. I'm glad I didn't get another SIS board. Only time will tell whether this TX model is as great as it seems.

BTW: I just got an Abit AN7 and a XP2400+. The processor will be waiting for me when i get home
Now all i need is an SATA Hard Drive (80GB) and some good DDR ram (512MB)
