Depends on what genres you like. Bioshock Infinite & Don't Starve were my two 2013 favorites. If you want to stretch back to late 2012, then add Dishonored for a top-3. To be honest I've found a lot of recent games boring & "samey" and have had more fun with Indie's (Banished, Transistor, etc). Some that were variably popular that you might like : Crysis 3, Battlefield 4, CoD Ghosts, GTA 5, Tomb Raider, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, Metro Last Light, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, Civ V, DOTA 2, Rise of The Triad, Saint's Row IV, Shadow Warrior, Titanfall, WatchDogs, Wolfenstein: TNO, etc.

In fact, it's probably quicker to just look through these and pick ones that don't have a gaping Metacritic Pro vs User score disparity:- :biggrin:

i think that farcry 3 was the only game of late that tried to be radical. i wish it had been tweaked a bit more for difficulty, but it was very good.
besides that, blacklight retribution, and not much else.

I've been doing a decent job of going into my backlog, so not a lot of newer games for me.

I will second Bioshock Infinite. One of the best shooter campaigns I've played.

I will throw in Gunpoint. It's a short game, something like 5-6 hours for all achievements, but it is great.

I want to include Transistor on the list, but I haven't played it yet. I love Bastion enough that I would still probably recommend it sight unseen.

Tomb Raider is early 2013, and that was a blast. If you played the classics in the series, this one may feel foreign, but as its own game, I enjoyed it quite a lot.

Tomb Raider, Bioshock and Dishonored. Can easily pick those up for $5-7 in the coming sales.
For a multiplayer fps: Battlefield 4 is approaching what could be considered a finished game now.

Bioshock and Dishonored I found to be enjoyable; Tomb raider I thought was kind of boring (not enough real exploration/puzzles); and some what linar map in general. It looked pretty and was short enough to finish but hardly what I would call game of the year.
Couple of other games (not nec game of the year) that were fun include xcom enemy within and Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep

Great listings guys.......I only have a handful of these (Crysis3, Bioshock Infinite, Far Cry3, Bastion, & Tomb Raider).

I'm looking to collect (as much as I can) the "best" player recommended games.....I do like excellent graphics, storyline, and good controls during gameplay (genre doesn't really matter, but generally prefer FPS games (even if they're older than 2013)).

Imo, these beat out ALL big name titles that have come out recently (including Infinite and Tomb Raider). Not FPS, and not cutting edge graphics though; but some of the best gameplay.

I agree with Metro LL, Tomb Raider, Dishonored,Farcry 3. I'd say Hitman and Splinter Cell were pretty good(I think Hitman was late 2012 release though, I don't remember exactly). The rest was pretty crap for me tbh, including Bioshock. It's just my opinion that if the subject is important, I'd rather read a book, I need totally different stuff from a game.

Well here it goes, this is my list of top PC Games of 2013-2014. (I prefer to keep early access games off this list).

Best Adventure Game: The Wolf Among US, The Walking Dead S1-5
Best Strategy Game: XCOM: Enemy Within, Tropico 5 (However, its the same as 4)
Best FPS Game: Bioshock Infinite, Wolfenstein: The New Order
Best RPG: Divinity: Original Sin, South Park: The Stick of Truth, Child of Light, Transistor
Best Simulator: Arma III, Euro Truck Simulator 2
Best Platformer: Rayman Legends, Valiant Hearts, Shovel Knight
Best MMO: A few keep the title from previous years: Dota 2, League of Legends, World of Tanks. New: Hearthstone

Reaper of Souls is the only thing I played in that time frame.

I am extremely bored of first person games. Wolfenstein 3D came out in 1991. By Half Life 2 I couldn't take any more of that genre.

I look for something new that might interest me, but nothing seems to have the interesting settings of games from the nineties.

Divinity: Original Sin will get the nod, though I find it too slow to keep my interest for long.
Started Borderlands: TPS yesterday and even though a lot is similar (99%) to BL2, the new characters are FUN to play and gets the nod from me.
Shadow of Mordor has been fun
AC4, if you are content with not playing a real assassin's creed game and instead just want a lackluster pirate sim.
AC3, if you want a real AC game. Most people hate it, but true fans of the series have liked it considerably. Not the best in the series mind you, but still some great content once the game opens up (hour 6+).

My nephew loved Lego Marvel - he is 5 and 100%'d it on the Wii
Road Redemption
Stick of Truth is a triumph in terms of accomplishing what it set out to do. Even if you don't finish the game, it is worth playing if you're a fan of South Park simply to experience what its like to walk around South Park. As a game, it is lacking something - for me it's whatever it is that keeps me going back to a game. Others have loved and raved about it.
