depends on which way you want to go. i bet either of my Dual Xeon (1 at 550 mhz each and the other at 2.6 mhz each) could kick your PC's @ss at Server functionality, particularly file server (Compaq 5300 raid controller, 4 140 gb 360 SCSI HD's Raid 5).

i do have an X2 4400 system as well.

or how about my dual Opteron 242 system.

AMD x2 3800+
2 GB OCZ Platinum
250 GB Seagate HD
7800 GT
blah blah blah

Until I realized how stupid it is to have such a high end computer when it's going to be outdated in a year... so I downgraded to an a64 3000+ and less ram, slower video card, smaller hard drive and such.
