CoD4. Great, cinematic campaign and multiplayer that stays fun. Crysis is good, but the single player wasn't as fun after you stopped fighting humans.

The unreal series. I wouldn't consider GTA as much as a FPS/PC shooter game.

I voted Stalker, but it isn't exactly a 'shooter'. Even though it is less action-oriented, I still think the shooting is way better than CoD4. If Stalker wasn't on the list, I'd go with Crysis.

COD 4 is easily the best recent FPS ... I also really enjoyed Bioshock but I don't think it fits the catagory.

COD4 is overrated garbage IMO.

Highest quality and most fun shooters are Team Fortress 2 (multiplayer) and Bioshock (single player).

COD 4 was very close to crysis for me, but in the end crysis is farcry in a skirt...COD4 has the best multiplayer and the better game play, cinematic, scripted, but still very fun and realistic

Agreed. I like Crysis for the technology.... but the TF/CS mechanics are old and as innovative as crap.

CoD is only good with mods and realism cranked to the max. Vanilla MP CoD4 sucks imo.

I'm currently addicted to an ultra-realistic (to me) COD2 TDM server:
-Only bolt-action and SAR
-Limited running, most movement in crouch
-Falling more than ~6' will result in damage
-No health replenishment
-No aiming reticle; have to use iron sights
-grenades cook
-FF on (you can kill teammates, and in the process suffer damage yourself)

Very tense and much better than the silly run-and-gun styles found elsewhere.

I actually got a bit bored with Crysis. COD4 MP is so much more fun

IMHO, for the past 8 or so years, I have always gone back to counter strike. More or less CS 1.5/1.6.
