Best PCI graphics card available?

GF 6200 128MB

Little over 30 dollars with shipping, decent upgrade for a system without AGP/PCIe.

Anyone want to buy it for benchmarking purposes? Its got to be leaps and bounds above the other PCI video cards, Radeon 7000s and GF MX4000s.

It is indeed the fastest PCI video card available. Its still slow, though. I'd say its even slower than its AGP/PCIe counterparts.

PCI, 128MB RAM, not TurboCache, cheaper than dirt...

Looks like the perfect card for diagnostics, third and fourth monitor output, and HTPC systems to me.

Shame I live in the UK, I don't think we have those.

Much better than the fx5200. One of my friends got one to play CoD2 and it was playable according to him.

turbocache is useless. The 6200s w/o turbocache perform better. Good find for $30, I couldn't find it for less than $40.

I got the pci 6200 off newegg. It isn't too bad.
I can run farcry on medium at 800x600 with an average fps of 43.
Aquamark 3 around 15,000, and 3dmark05 of 620.
It's a great bargain at $28.

I think the ol' Visiontek Radeon 9100 128mb/128bit-bus cards are still probably the fastest on PCI classic. Because they were not castrated.. (beyond their interface) unliked every other pci card, they actualy performed on par with their AGP counterparts @1024x768+

Give a card enough of its own ram bandwidth and you'd be surprised how much the need for system swapping bandwidth is minimized. .......Well back then atleast.

Wow, even my old X300 vanilla got about double that in 3DMark05.

6200 PCI is around an AGP 9550 in terms of performance I think, which would explain why the X300 is faster - I know the AGP 6200 (64-bit native NV44A version) wasn't much faster than a 9550 either. I'm not sure whether NVidia plans to release a 7300 for PCI, but there was talk of some demand in the NVidia forums a while back.

I got this as well the other day but what drivers are you all using for this? Also, since I'm a n3wb, is there a good step by step guide to uninstall the integrated video driver that's in my dell 5150? Gonna use this card temporarily until zipzoom gets those 1800xl's back in stock...Thanks in advance for your help!

Either 84.21 or the new 91.31s should work fine.

I doubt think you'll see X1800XLs back in stock though, better to look at the X1800XT or the 1900 series cards.

Yeah the X1900XT's are getting pretty cheap for a top of the line card

first of all, the 6200 is a DX9 part. I think even in dx8 games, the 6200 should be faster. the 8500 is similar in speed to a 9600se, right? the 6200 is closer to a 9600pro.
